Upcoming online program on Jan. 27th at noon on 2021 state legislative issues in the banking/financial service sector
The Women in Housing & Finance group in Washington, D.C. is hosting an educational program for its members on 2021 state issues. I am moderating the program with presentations by Frank Salinger, former General Counsel of AFSA and state government relations expert along with presentations by Megan Howell, a state government relations expert at PayPal, as well as by Toni Bellissimo, Executive Director of the Credit Card Coalition who also is a state government relations expert and a former president of WHF.
The program is scheduled for Jan. 27th at noon eastern and will conclude at 1:15 p.m., for WHF members.
The program will take a first look at the bills recently introduced or prefiled in January 2021 on issues affecting the financial services industry, consumer credit issues, data privacy issues and covid related issues for the states' legislative sessions this year. There are also budgetary and financial status issues at the state level that could have a bearing on this year's sessions. We also will look ahead at other topics that might be addressed as the legislative sessions progress during the year.
Finally, there are certain states that are especially active in nearly every year so I would anticipate commentary from the panelists on bills/trends to expect this year from California and New York, as well as the impact of fintech developments in various states including Wyoming, South Dakota and elsewhere.
In my role as moderator: I will bring my perspective as the former Delaware State Bank Commissioner regarding the financial services subject matter issues raised and I will also bring my perspective as a former member of the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council regarding state fiscal/public finance issues.
