More Compliance, Policy, Regulatory developments related to Fintech
Professor Bob Ledig from the George Mason Scalia law school with Angela Wilson, blockchain expert/guru and myself (Timothy McTaggart) conducted a training session on fintech developments. We made our presentation to the legal staff of a federal financial services regulatory agency on December 7, 2020.
Ledig addressed the permissibility of fintech activities for financial companies including their holding companies as well as presented on Madden issues, "true lender" issues, cybersecurity issues and other pertinent topics such as fintech chartering matters. Wilson covered topics pertaining to cryptocurrency, blockchain, new charter issues arising from Wyoming and other fintech app developments. I spoke on Artificial intelligence/machine learning, sup tech/reg tech, financial institution contractual arrangements with third party providers including fintech companies and faster payments initiatives including the FedNow .
I also discussed one of my favorite topics--the ongoing expansion of the corporate governance role of the Corporate Secretary and fintech demands on financial firm's recordkeeping. All of our covered topics were considered against the backdrop of the effect of Covid-19.
